An additional benefit is the dual element style of probe with the ability to locate blind surface corrosion or deterioration on the blind surface in the water jacket area prior to boring a cylinder or port. The high speed scan feature takes 100 measurements per second to save time when scanning a complete cylinder. Simply drag the probe from the bottom of the cylinder, at a given clock position in the cylinder, up to the deck area to locate the minimum thickness found. Scan can then be switched off and the user can find the exact location of the minimum thickness.
The Dakota R9 Sonic Tester has three material calibration options (single point, two point, and target velocity) for increased accuracy. Cylinder wall mapping software available for manually creating reports. Finally, our 5 year limited warranty indicates how we feel about the quality.
